Heping Women in Canada with Fibroids
CANFib's purpose is to help Women in Canada that have Fibroids stay on top of the Health Canada approved treatments avaible to them while helping women learn how to navigate the health care system and accurately quantify their symptoms.
This is an ongoing project of research, communication, collaboration and outreach.
Funding from Partners such as Pfizer, Abbvie and Watson has helped CANfib reach these goals with annual funding to help with the job.
Inforemation and Education Starts Here
Each year CANFib updates a trove of information for Women in Canada with Fibroids to work with and learn from.
From quantifying their symptoms, accurately conveying them to navigating the Canadian Heath Care system, our annual information network grows organically.
The 2024 - 2025 Education and Information Goal at CANFib centres on fortifying that trove of information while working on the development of a new "Fibroids App" (to be named) that helps Women with Fibroids gain control with that accuracy and information.
Briefly:
Most women wait 8-12 months for an appointment with their GYN. And most women spend 8 -10 years on a path seeking a resolution to their condition.
Most of those years are spent waiting for an appointment with their GYN.
Imagine if you could only visit your mechanic once every 8 months.
1. You'd want to make sure you tell them everything
2. You want to be accurate so your car gets fixed
Next Imagine having picked up your car and realizing when you get home .. you forgot to mention something (and now the car just isn't working as it should).
It will be another 8 months before having access to the mechanic.
This is an excellent parallel to women with Fibroids.
Now imagine how much faster that car would be fixed if all the information was accurate and accounted for early on.
No waiting for more appointments, (or a working car) is the happy result.
The CANFib Mobile App
The CANFib "Fewer Appointments, Faster Resolution" App Build is due for release January 2025 and currently incudes these features.
- Tools that help women with Fibroids document their symptoms accurately so those can be conveyed to the GYN without gaps.
- In a system with increasing instances of multiple Practitioners, the ability to accumulate one's own long term health data in one place becomes vital and is offered.
- Notes and diary sections for incidents or special information.
- Continued live updates of Treatments and Options approved by Health Canada so women are informed of their choices no matter where they live.
- Access to the forums currently enjoyed by over 28,000 Canadian Women.
This IOS / Android application is a game changer for Canadian Women with Fibroids.
